A loveable article about the Microsoft Vista EULA which I found in TheRegister (orginally in the SecurityFocus). What's an EULA? That's an "End User License Agreement", the thing which appears when you install a software and where you have to click that button which says "Click here to agree" or something like that. Never read one? You are not alone. But until these EULAs get challenged and invalidated in court rulings, you have agreeed to those dozens, if not hundreds of times.
In "Surprises Inside Microsoft Vista's EULA", Scott Granneman diggs out some really nice paragraphs, for example one referring to a URL for further conditions, ahm restrictions? Imagine, you agree to a license, which refers to a webpage which can be changed anytime. Which at the time of the writing of this article didn't even work. Therefore you have no idea, what you are agreeing to.
Did you know you have to buy the Pro versions of Vista to be allowed to install them as virtual machines?
BTW, do you like being labelled as an End User? The person who is the last part in the software industry food chain. A member of the species EULAs try to tame.
