Call me a bike geek or nerd. But this is really lovely innovative design and great craftmenship. Just to listen to Ric Hjertberg, the man behind Mad Fiber, explaining the design and functions of this wheel is a reason to buy a pair of these wheels. And if they are nearly as good as it seems, they should last for a life time. The industrial and raw look of these carbon fibre wonders makes me want to have these... if I wanted to spend 2600$ just for the pair of them. Well, who knows, maybe after the winter?
These wheels with a nice Pasculli taylor made carbon-fiber racer. BTW the showroom, sorry bike exposition, café and art gallery called Pasculli Villa happens to be in my neighbourhood, lucky me. My favourit is the Zovallo frame costing more than 2000 Euros. A steal really. Because my "old" Campagnolo Chorus components would be a, mmhh, mismatch to the wheels and the frame, we can add some nice components as well. Top of the line. And as gadget geek, that choice won't come cheap either. Of course we need some bum friendly ultra-light saddle and a short drop handle bar, pedals...
